The power of words to motivate employees

By Jacqueline Antonetti Moreno – Transformational Communicator. Diversity Expert. Bestselling Author. Solutions-finder.

As an innate and career communicator, I am a firm believer in the power that the words we think and express, both orally and written, have in our lives.

Words have the power to motivate or discourage people. Therefore, words have the power to make us move forward unstoppable towards the achievement of a goal or make us give-up halfway. That’s why we, as leaders, must make a conscious and smart choice of the words we use when talking to our team, as well as when creating our inner dialogues.

For example, one of the most obvious cases of such difference are the words problem vs. challenge. When we face a situation that seems to limit the completion of our plan, the natural tendency is to look at it as a ‘problem’. The issue with this word is that when we say it our mind immediately conditions itself to focus on the problem. We also begin to experience feelings that are rooted in fear: anxiety, anguish, etc. This, in turn, limits our ability to access our internal and unlimited source of solutions and resources, making it difficult to overcome adversity. 7 Reasons Why Businesses (and People) Should Focus On Being Competent Instead of Competing

puzzles-1515717By Jacqueline Antonetti Moreno – Transformational Communicator. Diversity Expert. Bestselling Author. Solutions Finder.

Throughout my life I have been a firm believer that we should compete with ourselves instead of spend our life competing with others. Namely, we should focus on being the best version possible of ourselves and make sure that we are better today than who we were yesterday. However, I kind of knew this instinctively, but wasn’t really aware of what were the benefits of having that “life philosophy” until about 12 years ago.

Back in the early 2000s in Venezuela, where I grew up and lived for over 30 years, there were two main cellular service providers which were so competitive that they kept highlighting in their tv ads what they did better than the competitor. Such “ads war” was actually fun to watch, to the point that people couldn’t wait for the reply of the competitor when one of the companies launched a new advertising campaign.

One day at a family reunion, my brother had been recently hired to be the VP Commercial Operations of one of the companies, and we talked about the competition described above. We all made our comments regarding how much fun to watch this was and so on, and then he said, with a smile on his face that the last ad was the last one we would see addressing the fails of the competitor. He had started a new advertising policy: they would focus on highlighting what they did great instead of highlighting what others did wrong.  Continuar leyendo “7 Reasons Why Businesses (and People) Should Focus On Being Competent Instead of Competing”

How Money Flows – The Good Days And Not So Good Days

By Karina Arancibia – Financial and Life Coachmoney-cash-flow-1537820

It usually happens that when things are going well and we find ourselves in a good financial position we feel secure and happy. The finances look good and we are able to cover all our expenses, our budget looks good and we are able to have money left over for saving and to treat ourselves.

Money and finances are such an important and essential part of our lives, when I coach my clients and we consider financial goals, we also have a conversation on how closely related financial goals are to life goals. The reason is that most of the time, goals we want to accomplish, money is probably needed.

Today I want to address the issue when resources run low, what is our reaction our attitude? What do we do when we noticed that our budget gets tight, and we are not able to cover some extra expenses that are not as essential for example cable or even some of our children activities, the complains could be endless.

We can focus on not having enough and not being able to afford the things we want or need. We might act as victims of our circumstances, and maybe go around sharing this information. How many times have you heard people compliant about not having enough money, not just your friend but people in general. We all have that friend or family member that will openly share his or her frustration with money.  Continuar leyendo “How Money Flows – The Good Days And Not So Good Days”

Big Mistakes and Bigger Lessons

Money-mistakesBy Karina Arancibia – Financial and Life Coach.

Some great lessons come from the mistakes we make…

When was the last time you made a mistake? I know sometimes it’s not easy to admit it. We don’t want to feel like we don’t know what we are doing, or that we did something wrong.

Usually when we make a mistake we can have different reactions, we might dwell on it and maybe  talk to ourselves. We might get upset and kick ourselves or we could also feel down, and that we didn’t know any better.

Lots of emotions with deal with, some people might be able to keep it cool and balanced and  that’s great and if you are able to control that. I have to admit that although I tried, to keep my cool, there is frustration inside, but also my brain starts looking for solutions and answers, I start questioning things.

Don’t think because I write this blog I don’t make any money mistakes, those have been some of my biggest lessons in my financial life, and I pass those to my kids and whoever is willing to listen.

I had an incident a few weekends ago, and it had to do with my car. My breaks broke in the middle of the night and I could not stop on a red light, I was fortunate enough that nothing happened just a scare and I was close to a friend house and I parked it there. The break was literally on the floor, wow never seen that before.. yea some people were laughing.  Continuar leyendo “Big Mistakes and Bigger Lessons”

The Importance of Punctuality

hours-away-1491303-1280x960By Luiraf Garcia – Entrepreneur. Marketing & Sales Manager.

Punctuality is defined as a discipline, that a person has to attend to his or her appointments with friends, colleagues, family members or with someone else.

This is one of the characteristics that define our personality and demonstrates our ability to organize and manage our time.

Within several countries in Latin America, this is a serious drawback. However, not as common in Europe, Asia or North America, where people are focused to be at the engagement ahead of time. For this reason, those who make the decision to live in countries like Canada, must consider timeliness as a priority when setting meetings of any kind.

One of the main aspects that we must consider when we are invited to a meeting is to respect the other party’s time. More often than not, the other person(s) probably has a daily agenda to fulfill, and must not run behind course due to our tardiness.

To comply promptly with the established commitments, here are my five recommendations to correct this bad habit: Continuar leyendo “The Importance of Punctuality”

What If We Stop Complaining For A Bit?

By Karina Arancibia – Financial and Life Coachstop complaining

A few weekends ago , I was with my son,  we had to go shopping for some items we needed for the house, since I decided to de clutter  the whole place…  tell you more about that experience later.

I noticed he was complaining about little things, the work we had to do the door being too far, the lady taking too long. I looked at him and said “I’ll challenge you  to stop complaining for one hour starting now” he said but mom I haven’t agreed to it. I said well the Challenge is ON.

Well,  interestingly enough he set up the timer for one hour to time himself…

Then I started thinking how many times do we do that throughout the day, complaint about little things. The weather being too cold or too hot. The line up at the bank or the grocery store, and those are the little complains in our heads. How about the more important things in our lives, our jobs, our business, our home, our children, our partners.  Continuar leyendo “What If We Stop Complaining For A Bit?”

The Importance of Networking

Networking Picture2By Luiraf Garcia – Entrepreneur. Sales and Marketing Manager.

In my first article on this blog, I want to talk about what in Canada is called “Networking” which is how you can create a database of individuals having a common interest.

Networking may have different approaches:  recreational, sporting purposes, professional interest, etc. The important thing here is to establish links with individuals or groups of them who share and want to achieve their same goals.

Today in particular, I will be focused on Professional Networking.

Since my arrival in Canada, some years ago, the first thing I heard from different sources was: “to succeed in this country you need to have great level of English and to establish an excellent Networking”. That prayer was etched permanently in my brain.

It was through Networking I got my first job in this country, and by doing the same I got my second job, much better than the first one.  Also, Networking was the way by which I received the offer from several Canadian educational institutes to represent them in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. This was the key to creating my own company, which has advised nearly 1,000 students around the world, about studies in Canada. Continuar leyendo “The Importance of Networking”

What To Do When A Cycle Closes And A New One Opens – PART 1

When a cycle closes
Closing cycles

By Jacqueline Antonetti-Moreno – Transformational Communicator and #1 Bestselling Author

December starts today and this has a double meaning: a cycle of 365 days ends and a new one starts soon.

One of the greatest learnings I’ve had in my life is that to be able to open ourselves and move towards new experiences it’s necessary to close cycles. But, how do we close a cycle? Or even better, how do we close a cycle in a productive and positive way? Well, I tell you below.

The first thing we must do is to understand that the more aware we are about our actions, the easier it will be for us to align our lives with our true self and, such alignment will bring wholeness, peace and happiness into our lives.

Having said that, I list below some recommendations to close cycles in such a way that you will be able to keep that alignment and consistency I mentioned before: Continuar leyendo “What To Do When A Cycle Closes And A New One Opens – PART 1”
